Finding the Space

to Breathe and

the Ease to Stay Steady.

Licensed & Board-Certified Art Psychotherapist

You might be here because something has felt off for a while, even if you can’t quite name it.

Maybe you’re getting by, doing what needs to be done, while quietly carrying an exhaustion that only seems to get heavier.

You may have been thinking about therapy but wondered whether what you’re feeling is “bad enough” to warrant support, or whether therapy will even work for you.

Ann Yi, a licensed art psychotherapist based in New York, offering virtual sessions in English and Korean.

If any of that resonates, you’re in the right place.

My name is Ann, and I’m a licensed art psychotherapist based in New York. I work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, relational stress, and the weight of family expectations.

They’re often are keeping it together on the outside while carrying an immense weight on the inside.

Why I Do This Work

From Self-Blame to Self-Assurance & Confidence

Many of my clients come to me carrying a heavy, unspoken belief: they are never quite “enough”, that they need to do more, be more, be better. It’s a feeling I know intimately from my own journey, that subtle yet persistent self-correction that drains you with the promise of achieving everything you should be.

You might recognize it in:

Anger you can’t quite justify.

Anxiety that doesn’t seem to make sense.

Wondering why something “small” affects you so deeply.

A struggle you feel you have no right to complain about.

The Path to Something New

I want you to know that the kind of change that feels impossible or even uninmaginable is truly possible. As we understand the self-critical lens as it exists within you, we can loosen its hold and create space for a new perspective that’s more considerate and more compassionate, challenging the critical bias that persists.

As this happens, we can also see changes we didn’t know was related: more restful sleep, a new capacity to express your needs without guilt, a sense of general ease and self-assurance in place of the usual restlessness and hopelessness.

What I Know Is Possible for You

Over the past decade as a therapist and clinician, I’ve witnessed the transformation in each person I work with. The shift is deeply personal, and the result consistently shows up for the people that take the steps to invest in themselves with therapy.

Change doesn’t happen suddenly or all at once, but it does happen with a first push towards that direction. In therapy, it begins with a conversation.

Hands engaging in creative art therapy, using paintbrushes and paper to explore personal change.

Experience & Credentials

I hold an MA in Art Therapy from New York University and am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and Registered, Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC).

My training spans settings including hospitals, schools, grief programs, homeless shelters, experiences that have deepened my ability to sit with the kinds of experiences that don’t always have easy answers.

My focus is on the intersection of anxiety, guilt, self-criticism, and the quiet exhaustion of holding it all together for too long.

Outside the Office

When I’m not in session, you might find me on an outdoor run by the river at sunset to help me clear the day’s mental loops and stay grounded. I’m often scoping out for a new plant to bring home, and often have a knitting project nearby for the tactile process of creating something one stitch at a time.

To fully recharge my curiosity, I enjoy immersing myself in a video game, an art museum, or planning the next destination on my travel list.
